Did you know that George Washington made rye whiskey in Maryland? Maryland Rye Whiskey is one of the original spirits of the U.S., and Sagamore Spirit is working hard to re-establish historically smooth and creamy rye. We’re fortunate to partner with the brand on a 7YO single barrel bottled just shy of cask strength at 110 proof. This pour has rich, dark fruit, baking spice, and cacao woven throughout the nose and palate. Deep cocoa and a touch of leather meet a classic rye spice on the palate with a long, enjoyable pastry finish. Intense cherry and cheese danish vibes as it lingers. In our Topflight Series, we’ve got several excellent rye whiskeys released and coming soon, and this is among my favorites. Extremely approachable for rye newbies and everyday rye drinkers alike — I highly recommend this pour for a Manhattan cocktail.
